SEMI-3 DOF MOTION BASES
|
We have been working on a system that combines the 2DOF technology and ads partly the third degree of freedom of the 3DOF.
The Semi-3DOF !
In a classic 3DOF, the platform is lifted by the motors, so the weight of the cockpit is mainly moved by the motors. In a 2DOF system, the platform benefits from a central pivot point.
By our new technique, combining both the 2- and 3DOF systems, we were able to develop a system which next to the pitch and bank of the 2DOF also ads a fair amount of heave.
The key points in this technology are the combination of different type of servo motors, positioning of the cockpit and specific software.
So what does Semi-3DOF stands for, the 3 degrees of freedom are real but the difference with a standard 3DOF is that not the complete platform or cockpit has the third degree of freedom.
Next to the 30° angle in pitch and bank, a heave movement of 25 cm is reached on the pilot seating area.
As positioning of the cockpit is crucial, each platform is custom made, delivery time 8 weeks.
Thanks to this technology, we put 3DOF in reach at a price of a standard 2DOF.
